Amazon Urges Sellers to Participate in Prime Early Access Sale for the Holidays

Amazon is trying to get sellers to participate in the upcoming two-day Prime Early Access Sale as a jump start to the holiday shopping season.

The company stated in a post to the Amazon Seller Forums on Sept. 30 that the upcoming Prime Early Access Sale, taking place Oct. 11-12, would give sellers "the opportunity to kick off the holiday shopping season early by promoting Prime Exclusive discounts and coupons."

"As part of the event, we’re making it easier for Prime members to discover, shop, and save on your deals," the post adds. "New deals will drop throughout the event, allowing you to showcase products across all top categories, including electronics, fashion, home, kitchen, pets, and toys."

To participate, sellers can submit a Prime Exclusive Discount or Coupon before Oct. 11.

A seller complained that the announcement did not give them enough time to prepare for the event, although an Amazon representative countered that it had actually been announced back in June.

"The Prime Fall Deal Event was originally announced on [June 1] in Seller Central where Deal submission on recommended ASINs was open through [Aug. 5]," stated the representative. "This announcement is for Prime Exclusive Discounts and Coupons as they are still able to be submitted for participation since no ASIN recommendations are required! The [Aug. 5] deadline was for submissions on recommended ASINs only."

For Amazon Prime Early Access, the retailer is promising steep discounts on many products, such as 80% off some Fire TV smart TVs. Amazon will offer holiday gift guides as well as various promotional credits and deals to Prime members.
